waygook.org - Website built by teachers in Jeollanamdo--some of them even J-distance teachers. You can trade lesson plans and ideas here with fellow distance-educators dealing with the same material.

csun.edu - A pretty thorough collation of ESL websites and ideas.

barryfunenglish.com - This site is highly recommended! You need to subscribe to access all of the materials and games, but it is a gem for finding relevant PPTs, vocabulary sets, worksheets, and online games tailored to Korean elementary students. The cost to sign up is minimal, and definitely worth it!

eslgamesworld.com - Great PPT ideas and editable PPT game templates! If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a section called 'ESL for Young Learners,' which has loads of materials from another site called English4Kids.

eflclassroom.com - There is so much information on here, it's staggering! To streamline your search, go to the 'Teach' section for elementary resources. Another great section is 'Play' for lots of great games.

mes-english.com - Flashcards, PPTs, worksheets, games, and lots of great ideas!

bogglesworldesl.com - This is a great site for finding word searches and puzzles which can be used for review. Just make sure to save the puzzle in a Word format or copy and paste into a PPT. Once uploaded into Live Meeting, the students can solve the puzzles by using the drawing toolbar.

genkienglish.net - Lesson plans, teaching tips, songs and games for elementary EFL students. Some materials are free to use, and some are by subscription only. The guy who created this is super entertaining and the kids really like the graphics.

pppst.com - A gazillion PPTs, free to use!

korean-school.blogspot.com - This is a pretty good site for finding images of the characters from the Korean elementary textbooks. Here you can find scanned flashcards and dialogues, which can be useful for copying and pasting into PPTs, or shared on your desktop in Live Meeting!

Interactive Games:

Make sure you have the latest version of FlashPlayer installed. Some games will only load using Explorer as your internet browser, so keep that in mind before you plan for these in your class.

starfall.com - This is a great site for practicing ABCs, phonics, and reading to young learners. The 'It's Fun to Read' section is especially fun for the kids, particularly the 'All About Me' games.

primarygames.com - Easy games for your lower grades!

funschool.kaboose.com - Lots of great educational games found on the left-hand tool bar. The 'Language Games' and 'Math Games' are super!

YouTube Channels:

ESOLNexus - Your one-stop shop of curriculum clips, from yours truly!

peterweatherall - Super cute and fun songs from Peter Weatherall. I often start class with the 'Hello Song' as a warm-up. It's a perfect way to exercise those vocal chords, and greet the class. Other great songs are the 'Weather Song,' 'How Old Are You?,' 'The Body Song' and 'School School School.'

Koomakids - A collection of catchy songs, designed specifically for EFL students. Highly recommended!

sesamestreet - No lesson on numbers would be complete without the Pointer Sisters singing 'Pinball Countdown' or the classic 'Baker 10' song. There are also a lot of celebrities singing their ABCs, which are always fun to watch!

incelly - This creative Youtuber has composed his own karaoke tunes to accompany the Korean elementary curriculum--no kidding!

wearebusybeavers - More Busy Beavers!

"Let's talk with puppy dog." - This playlist has a series of videos that is suitable for low-beginners.

Teacher's Guides

The curricula teacher's guides were all created in Korea, which means they're created in Haansoft's .hwp (Hangeul Word Processor) format--a format accessible only to those who have purchased Haansoft software.

For now, however, you can download the trial version of HWP Viewer from their site (click on whichever one of the floppy disc icons in the middle of the page works for you). The trial version is completely free and legal, and it will allow you to view the .zip files we've linked below, which include the textbooks' complete teacher's guides for each chapter of each grade.

There is also a great site for converting .hwp files to .pdf, or for simply viewing them online called thinkfree.com. Just click on the 'view document' or 'convert to PDF' links on the right when you get there, upload the files you've downloaded from our site, and then view them online or download the converted file back to your computer.

You can also link up to the teacher's guides online to download other teaching materials, photos, and videos for each grade.

And in case you're having problems figuring out how to install the HWP Viewer, there is a nice youtube tutorial at teachingkimchi.com to walk you through the process.

CD Rom Lesson Material

All the videos, songs, and chants for all chapters and all grades can be found on our youtube channel, which you can link up to through Live Meeting while teaching.

For your reference, however (or in case you can think of a more useful way to use the materials), all four grades' accompanying CD Rom materials are linked below. Each disc is linked as an ISO-image (.iso extension), and must be burned onto a disc in order to access it (or onto a virtual drive, which is a bit more complicated). For instructions on how to burn an ISO disc with free software, please refer here.
